Gaana of the week…….
Jaan-E-Mann was a very different film and told in a very novel fashion. The use of colour and visuals is very impressive though the plot seemed cliched. The movie suffered more than it should have for being pitted against SRK’s ‘Don‘ for a Diwali/Eid release. Anu Malik however did a good job with the music dept and the movie is remembered for Akshay Kumar’s comic timing. This song in particular stands out for me and is shot in very interesting angles, the waltzing shadow dancers give it that extra punch. Sonu Nigam I feel has given Anu Malik his best songs and ‘Ajnabi Shehar’ one also lines up among those forgotten and neglected melodies. Priety Zinta looks as fresh as a daisy and Salman Khan gives us one of his rare and restrained performances. Watch the film at least once if you haven’t, for this guy Shirish Kunder has a future…..

Gaana of the week…….
‘Dil Hi Dil Main‘ was another of A.M.Rathnam’s futile attempts to ride on the back of A.R.Rahman’s music. Made Initially as ‘Kadhalar Dinam‘ in Tamil and later dubbed in Telugu as ‘Premikula Roju’, the movie starred a Barbie-looking Sonali Bendre and a the late Kunal Singh sporting a girlie hairdo. Nothings worth writing bout the film as I haven’t been able to sit through it despite trying thrice. However once can’t take away anything from ARR for another memorable soundtrack, which might not figure amongst his best but is definitely worth listening. The lyrics by ‘Mehboob’ are pretty bland but the voice of ‘Abhijeet‘, the locales, a ravishing Sonali add to the timeless music of ARR.
If you were amongst the unlucky ones to have watched this film, then you would also be able to relate to a dandiya song sung by the one-and-only ‘Udit Narayan‘. I prefer this song as opposed to the dandiya number that was featured in the promos of this film. Sadly the poor guy never made it big in bollywood, but this song will be etched in the memory or ARR fans for a long time, I hope you’ll be humming this song for the rest of the day…

Gaana of the week…….
Sarfarosh is one such movie that you can watch anytime irrespective how many times you’ve seen it before. Released in 1999 every song in the album went on to be played by every music channel to this day. Brilliantly directed by John Mathew Matthan at a time when tensions were flaring, the movie was a blockbuster hit. Haven’t heard of another movie from the director again though. The song ‘Hoshwalon ko khabar’ is picturized on Sonali Bendre and Aamir Khan as a dream sequence and Jagjit Singh’s soulful vocals are etched in memory long after you’ve heard it.

Gaana of the week…….
This song is from a very forgettable movie called ‘Tarkieb‘ that featured a whole array of stars in a whodunit murder mystery. But this post is about the song and not the movie, and therefore ladeej and juntalmen I give you, ‘Kis ka Chehra’. Shot on a very young looking Tabu and Milind Soman(now you know why women still swoon at his mention!) this song is backed by Jagjit Singh and Alka Yagnik on the vocals. The lyrics are plain simple but its the soulful voice of Jagjit Singh that makes it memorable.

Gaana of the week…….
‘Tu jo nahin hain’ was eclipsed by the super duper ‘Kya mujhe pyaar hain’ sung by KK for the film ‘Woh Lamhe‘. I don’t say that Pritam is a great music director but even Anu Malik churns out his best for the Bhatt stables. This song wasn’t again part of the promos and featured in the beginning of the movie along wit h the titles. It’s a possible chance that may have even missed it while searching for their seats. Brilliant vocals by an unheard singer Glen John, Enjoy!
Lyrics below:
tu jo nahi hain toh kuchh bhi nahi hain
yeh maana ki mehfil jawaan hain haseen hain
tu jo nahi hain toh kuchh bhi nahi hain
yeh maana ki mehfil jawaan hain haseen hain
tu jo nahi hain toh kuchh bhi nahi hainsamajh mein na aaye yeh kya maajara hain
tujhe paake dil mein yeh khaalisa kya hain
samajh mein na aaye yeh kya maajara hain
tujhe paake dil mein yeh khaalisa kya hain
yeh khaalisa kya hain
kyun har waqt dil mein ??? kali hain
kyun har waqt seene mein rehti kami hain
tu jo nahi hain toh kuchh bhi nahi hain
yeh maana ki mehfil jawaan hain haseen hain
tu jo nahi hain toh kuchh bhi nahi hainjidhar bhi yeh dekhen jahaan bhi yeh jaayen
tujhe dhundhati hai yeh paagal nigaahen
jidhar bhi yeh dekhen jahaan bhi yeh jaayen
tujhe dhundhati hai yeh paagal nigaahen
yeh paagal nigaahen
main zinda hoon leking kahaan zindagi hain
meri zindagi toh kahaan kho gayi hain
tu jo nahi hain toh kuchh bhi nahi hain
yeh maana ki mehfil jawaan hain haseen hain
tu jo nahi hain toh kuchh bhi nahi hain
Gaana of the week…….
‘Bol na halke halke’ was probably one of the most underrated and forgotten songs of 2007. Brilliant vocals by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Mahalaxmi Iyer but with the film(Jhoom Barabar Jhoom) sinking at the box office and the absence the promos, this song is unheard by many.

Lyrics below
kaisa lage jo chup chaap dono, ho pal pal mein puri sadiyaan bitaayein
aap…….
Husn bhi aap hain, Ishq bhi aap hain
Jis taraf dekhiye aap hi aap hain
Baaghon mein kamini, Mandir mein moorti
Dekhi na aaj tak yeh khoobsoorati
Ganga bhi aap hain, Jamuna bhi aap hain
Jis taraf dekhoon aap hi aap hain
Update: The song is from the movie Shapath and sung by Anup Goshal and compesed by Bappi Lahiri

Pyaar Kiya To Nibhana
Kehta Hai Pal Pal Tumse
Ho Ke Dil Ye Deewana
Ek Pal Bhi Jaane Jana
Mujhse Door Nahin Jana
Pyaar Kiya To Nibhana
Pyaar Kiya To Nibhana
This is a rather old and possibly long forgotten song. The lyrics are pretty simple and nothing to boast about, same can be said about the music. But there is some ting highly intoxicating and addictive bout it. See for yourselves, if you don’t believe me…..
There she goes…….
There she goes
There she goes again
Racing through my brain
And I just can’t contain
This feeling that remainsI like this song by ‘Sixpence none the richer‘ a lot, but that is not the real intent of this post. It’s time for some IE bashing, and boy I love that! Slashdot just reported an IE bug that hits both IE6 and IE7. It’s nothing harmful but I just love it when IE crashes!

Do I need to say more?
Jab nahin aaye they tum
tab bhi mere saath they tum
dil mein dhadkan ki tarah, tan mein jeevan ki tarah
meri dharti, mere mausam, mere din raat they tum
jab nahin aaye they tum…
phool khilte they to aati thi tumhaari khushboo
har hasin shaam jagati thi tumhaara jadoo
aaine mein mere har din ki mulakaat they tum
dil mein dhadkan ki tarah, tan mein jeevan ki tarah
meri dharti, mere mausam, mere din raat the tum
jab nahin aaye they tum…
adhmundhi aankh mein sajta hua ek khwaab they tum
pehli barsaat mein bheega mahtaab they tum
hont mere they magar, inki har ek baat they tum
dil mein dhadkan ki tarah, tan mein jeevan ki tarah
meri dharti, mere mausam, mere din raat the tum
jab nahin aaye they tum…

dil ke jharoke mein……
Kal tere jalwe paraaye bhi honge
lekin jhalak mere khawabon mein hogi
phoolon ki doli mein hogi tu rukhsat
lekin mahek meri saanson mein hogi…..
ab bhi tere surkh honton ke pyaale
mere tasavur mein saakhi bane hain
ab bhi tere zulf ke mast saaye
birha ki dhoop mein saathi bane hain….
meri mohabbat ko thukrade chahe
main koyi tujhse na shivka karunga
aankhon mein rehti hai tasveer teri
saari umar teri pooja karun……………
behind blue eyes…….
just awesome…….
No one knows what it’s like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes
And no one knows
What it’s like to be hated
To be fated to telling only lies
But my dreams they aren’t as empty
As my conscience seems to be
I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That’s never free
No one knows what its like
To feel these feelings
Like i do, and i blame you!
No one bites back as hard
On their anger
None of my pain and woe
Can show through
No one knows what its like
To be mistreated, to be defeated
Behind blue eyes
No one knows how to say
That they’re sorry and don’t worry
I’m not telling lies
No one knows what its like
To be the bad man, to be the sad man
Behind blue eyes.

aapki kashish sarfarosh hain
aapka nasha yu madhosh hain
kya kahe tumse jaane ja
gum hua hosh hain
baairiyan chav ka
jaadu joh chal gaya
deewana main hua
dil machal gaya
halka dhuan utha
mausam badal gaya
roshan hua sama
parwaana jal gaya
jaagi re jaagi re main soyi
teri hi yaado mein main khoyi
ab mera jahaan
teri aaghosh hain
aapka nasha yu madhosh hain
kya kahe tumse jaane ja
gum hua hosh hain
duba rahu sada tere khayalo mein
uljha rahu sada tere sawalo mein
tere bina kahi ab na karaar hain
jaaneman tujh pe toh jaan bhi nisaar hain
jaana re jaana re maine jaana
tu mera tu mera deewana
na meri khata na mera dosh hain
aapka nasha yu madhosh hain
kya kahe tumse jaane ja
gum hua hosh hain
aapki kashish sarfarosh hain
aapka nasha yu madhosh hain
kya kahe tumse jaane ja
gum hua hosh hain
owww! how true….
sab kuchh seekha humne naa seekhi hoshiyari
sach hai duniwaalon ki ham hain anadi
duniya ne kitana samajhaya
kaun hai apana kaun paraya
phir bhi dil ki choT chupa kar
humne aapka dil behalaya
khud pe mar miTne ki ye zid thi humari
sach hai duniwaalon ki ham hain anadi
asli nakli chehre dekhe
dil pe sau sau pehre dekhe
mere dukhte dil se poocho
kya kya khvaab sunehre dekhe
TooTa jis taare pe nazar thi humari
sach hai duniwaalon ki ham hain anadi
dil ka chaman ujaDthe dekha
pyaar ka rang utarte dekha
humne har jeene vaale ko
dhan daulat pe marte dekha
dil pe marne waale marenge bhikhari
sach hai duniwaalon ki ham hain anadi
