NBA finals and WC 2006

It was a good game which promised to generate a lot of Heat, but the Mav’elous team from Dallas cooled down the atmosphere. Miami looked impressive when Shaq was in the middle but mediocre while he wasn’t around.

Jason Terry was the star of the day while Dwane Wade, and Dirk Nowitzki did shine. Jerry Stackhouse was a suprise package with a bleeding nose(thanks to Daddy Diesel), but game 1 is just an indicator of better games ahead.

All eyes are now looking towards the berlin wall as the most popular sporting event in the world is all set to kick-off(literally) in a few hours. My money for sure is on Brazil with the 4 R’s(Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Robinho, Roberto) all raring to go. My heart however is with England, Eriksson’s boys now have Rooney power as the ManU star was cleared to play.

For once Mayur won’t mind losing his money as long as the cup travels to London.

Kimi in Spain……

leave a comment »

Kimi was in a league of his own as he dominated the Spanish GrandPrix. JPM back after an injury held his own against schumi as the Italian champ was forced 2 retire after typre probs. The other Ferrari was lapped by the leaders, Schumi looked menacing as he reached 3rd place frm his startin position of 8th on the grid.

But the race belonged only to Kimi n Alonso, the latter 4 garnerin all crowd support n was the centre of focus. The minardis still have their problems and Montiero finished ahead of Karthikeyan 4 a change today. So much 4 a star studded Sachin, Anand and Narain meet!

Kimi is 3rd in the standings now and will have 2 race hard if he wants a gud finish to the season……

How could this happen?

Kimi’s Mclaren broke down around lap 8 as he slowed dramatically and retired from the lead, the frustration clearly showed on his face.. This only meant advantage Alonso lekin the day belonged 2 the man they call Schumi!

On heavy fuel Schumacher saved his car until the first pit stops and then drove out of his skin to go from 13th on the grid to 2nd, n finishin only 0.s secs behind race leader Alonso.

Apna Karthikeyan finished 14th behind Coulthard as both Minardis failed 2 finish the race. The Ferrari of Barrichello, and the Renault of Fisichella were the other two non-finishers.

A stunning sequence of laps saw Michael Schumacher move from eleventh to third by the time the first round of pit stops were complete. Michael Schumacher was on an absolute charge. The German continued to lap between 1.5 and two seconds faster than Alonso and Button. In the final ten laps there was nothing more than 0.3s between Alonso and Schumacher, but Alonso scored his third successive victory this season by just 0.2s from reigning champion Michael Schumacher.

F1 Update..

leave a comment »

Mclaren got their first pole of the season as Kimi Raikkonen set a strong qualifying lap, keeping him in front of Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button.

Michael Schumacher had a terrible qualifying, he spun of the track and ruined his strong first qualifying time. he now begins the San Marino Grand Prix from 14th position. The other Scarlet car will start 10th.

Apna Karthikeyan stayed onto 17th with both red bulls ahead of him, Albers of Minardi was the only guy 2 not finish qualifying.

Kimi Raikkonen stole provisional pole position for this weekend’s Formula One San Marino Grand Prix by just 0.03s from championship leader Fernando Alonso. Michael Schumacher finished third fastest but almost 0.4s down on Raikkonen’s pace

Wow! awesome race da, but they brought on a new driver instead of de la rossa who stole the thunder in Bahrain. btw Narain Karthikeyan finished 17th,

Sports in India…….

Narain Karthikeyan has surely aroused a lot of interest in motorsports. Pankaj Advani’s win @ IBSF championships is a shot in the arm for billiards n snooker.

Saw both interviews on NDTV, It’s really refreshin 2 c many indians take up various sports other thatn cricket n excel at em’.

Narain said that he was right now aiming at finishing the races if not scoring any points . Me happy if he finishes with a point at the end of the season, since Jordan is one of the weakest teams.

In other news Venkatesh prasad has decd 2 finally call it a day for first class cricket. Me luved his famous ‘slower ball’ and the tussle between him n Amir Sohail in the QF of the world cup in B’lore, 1996.

Giancarlo Fisichella drove the race of his life! kudos 2 him! Kimi n Alonso both had a fantastic race. Apna Karthikeyan impressed in his very first race though he finished 15th.

More can be found here, n the standings here.
